My comments:
I've noticed a slight trend in the use of a filigree pattern in the background of church websites over the past few years. Although the filigree pattern doesn't extend to the actual background on this home page, this home page is still an example of this trend.
On this site, as you can see, the filigree is (additionally) combined with the use of imagery in the background.
