View Full Version : NetMinistry?

I was wondering if anyone out there was using NetMinistry for their site. We have been using it since before I started working here and NetMinistry designed our current site, but the site will only load properly in Internet Explorer. We are working on a new design for the site and I have tested it in different browsers from my computer, but I haven't been brave enough to load it into NetMinistry's CMS (mainly because I can't load the new one without deleting part of the old one and I'm not ready for that yet).
Does anyone have any input on using Joomla? I installed it on my home computer and it seems pretty easy to use, but I haven't tried tampering with the layout at all. I am looking for something that will allow me to design my own template and then set up accounts for the other staff members so they can add and delete pages and update content without using any chance of messing up the template. If not Joomla, any other suggestions?
Any input you guys can offer would be great.:)

Hi, Malorie,
Welcome to the forum! Have you received any kind of input from the people on this forum yet? I am unable to answer your question, but I would hope that somebody on here would know the answer. They usually do.
Even though I cannot answer your question, I will post it on UMConnect to see if anybody on there has used NetMinistry. If memory serves me right, somebody does use it.
I will get back on here when I get some kind of response one way or another.
Take care. I am glad you jumped aboard the forum. David, the administrator, has done a terrific job with it...in my not so humble opinion. :D

Hi, Mal,
I did not forget you. I just did not get a quick response this time. Below is what a fellow who has a lot of computer knowledge says. I have interacted with him on the forum for quite some time, and I have found that his information is quite accurate. He said:
"Carol,
You can learn a lot about NetMinistry by visiting their website, at:
http://www.netministry.com (http://www.netministry.com/)
They seem to offer a lot of features, and have an interesting approach, in that the initial setup fee ($149) includes custom design work on a template for the site. I think the ongoing hosting fee is about $35/month, which is fairly normal for full-featured, CMS-based church website providers (WebMedly and E-zekiel come to mind). They charge for telephone tech support, and are based in Florida, which has always made me a bit nervous, to be honest (sorry, and Floridians out there....I don't need to go any further with that topic for now).
I just called their 800 number and talked to one of the sales statt -- I think his name was "Tom" -- and he clarified that although their CMS system works best with IE, the resulting websites should be cross-browser compatible with all contemporary browsers.
I don't think your friend could use Joomla as a part of a NetMinistry site -- I don't think the two would be compatible. She should probably either stick to what's offered within the NetMinistry platform or abandon it altogether and move to a different host and CMS technology."
He has not used it evidently, but he as well as another person do not recommend using Joomla unless you are very "web savvy". You can define that as you will.
I hope this is helpful. If not, just keep asking questions, and we will find your answers together. I learn as well as you. :)
