I am co-founder and CEO of the Easy Preach Media Network. We are a new company specializing in church podcasting. The only thing the church is responsible for is recording the audio (which we help to setup) and sending us their mp3. We do all the work from there.

Our service includes sermon notes, embeddable player, translation, for churches without a web presence, we provide a page (example: http://easypreach.com/easypreachdemo (http://easypreach.com/yourchurch)).

The basic service, with sermon transcription and up to six months of archived sermons, costs $3.50/week. Our projected launch date for the site is January 7, 2008, but we are constantly taking on new churches. Feel free to call or email us with ANY questions you may have.

Hi, Brandon,

I had a good time looking at your websites. I think what you are doing looks very nice. My basic question is who will use your services?

Most of the churches that I know very well struggle with finances. They would agree that the service is nice and looks good. In fact, it looks much better that what I currently use. However, what I currently use for our church is free. But I am getting 25 gb of space with the ability to host from the site. That, of course, saves us a lot of space and money.

And we would have to create an mp3 file no matter what kind of service is used...free or paid. I guess what I am saying is that I don't understand the advantage of your service other than it looks nicer that what I am using.

I checked out the church website. It has some interesting stuff on it. I was amazed to see all of the exposed email addresses. I tried to write the church, but I ended up with an error page. Someone needs to check that out.

We us a contact us page instead, I also mentioned that there are only pictures of the church building and none of the church...the people... on the home page which is a welcoming thing to do.

As of Sunday, we will not have pictures of people on our home page either. They will be advent candles. The rest of the year there is a picture of some kind with people...usually. The other exception is the first Sunday of each month when we have communion.

Who made your church website? I don't see anyone's name. However, I didn't go through the entire site.

I am glad you checked in. It is nice to meet you, and I enjoyed looked at the websites you listed. Thank you. I always learn something when I go to other websites.

As we have yet another offer of a podcasting service on the site, it again doesn't help me.

Here's the way the service would be helpful:

Our service begins, like many others with a call to worship (most of the time, but not always) and singing. Of course, the CCLI license we use does not allow us to post the music to the web site.

So the basic outline of our service is as follows:

Call to Worship
Worship in Song
Sermon
Another song or two
Communion Meditation & Communion
Offertory Meditation & Offering
Song during Offering Collection
Invitation/Benediction/Closing Announcements

Of which, our MP3 posted to the site contains the sermon and the Inivitation/Benediction/Closing Announcements.

So what the podcasting service needs to offer for me to want/need to use it is the following:

I upload the MP3 (128 bit) to the service
They cut out the songs and other parts I don't need
They do any necessary noise clean up on the remainder
They amplify as needed
They down sample the MP3 to our desired specs (in our case 32 bit, 11 kHz sampling rate)
They return the file to me, preferably by sending a link where I can download
(Optional) They transcribe the text of the sermon

Call me picky, but if I can make an MP3 of my service, I think I can handle the podcasting part (especially since my CMS handles it for me). However, I have enough on my plate that if it doesn't get done on Sunday afternoon, it usually doesn't get done.

I'm a volunteer with a full-time job. Any service you need to sell me shouldn't cater to my lack of experience/know-how, it should cater to my lack of time.

Carol,

The advantage of our service is:
a. No need to worry about space or bandwidth...EVER
b. All you have to do is record your sermon and send it to us, that's it!
c. We will have a blogpage and gallery page if you would like.

The site that you see now is just an example of HOW the service will work. The actual layout will be slightly different and you will have several templates to choose from for your site.

As for cost, the first six months of our basic service is $3.50/week. This will give you a period of time to evaluate our service .After that point, certain services will be added and the price will go to $5.00/week.

Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have at the number listed below!

Hi Jack!

I understand and appreciate your questions. You said above "but if I can make an MP3 of my service, I think I can handle the podcasting part". That being said, maybe we are not the right service for you. We do not come to your church and record for you. What we do offer is the ability to just record your mp3 (a process which takes all of 5 minutes in addition to the sermon time) and send it to us. We do the rest. We do do audio editing and cleanup for an added fee.

What do you think is a reasonable price for us to do what you need? Also, are you going to link your site to our site (where the podcast will be held) or are you planning on hosting the podcast yourself?

If you have any questions that I can answer for you, please feel free to give me a call at the number listed below!

Hi, Brandon,

I must really be dense because I still do not understand what you are offering which would be worth that much money. At $5.00 a week that is $260 a year.

I know of very few churches that have that kind of money to spend on podcasting. Of course, I will be the first to add that I do not have a lot of knowledge about funds in other churches except for a few.

Most of us have trouble paying for software and hosting. In fact, I am working on bringing that cost down as well. People are not giving to the church well. They are filling up their SUVs. :D The higher gas prices go, the less people pay on their pledges. I don't really know if that is a direct correlation, but it sounds good. I made that up, but I have no doubt that it is true.

I guess I really just don't understand the value of your service other than I know the resulting page would look much neater and more professional than mine does...but I am working on it. One of these days I will have a page I will be proud of!! :)

Tiny step by tiny step is the way I go...but slowly, slowly I get there.

Have a blessed Advent to one and all who celebrate Advent!

I didn't expect you to come to the church and record for me. That takes me all of a couple minutes before service.

As for price, I don't know. I specified a tall order, and right now, our church has no budget for it.

We would self-host the podcast. It works for us right now, and I see no reason to change.

Jack,

It sounds like what you really need is an audio editing service. If you would like I would be happy to do some research and find someone who will do that for you for a small price (for their service).

http://podcastpro.blogspot.com/
http://www.desmastering.com/
http://www.servesense.com/audio_editing/

You already have your podcasting process down and it doesn't sound like you need a podcasting company of any kind.

Dear Carol,

The true value of our service lies in its service. Now, since you are a volunteer there is no point in me saying you could save money in "time". Also, I see that you use mediamax.com to host your media files which I also know is free (up to 25 gb of storage and 1 gb of bandwidth).

What we offer is this;

Hosting of audio files
Unlimited bandwidth
unlimited storage
Hosting of blogpage (podcast home)
Listing in top 10 most popular podcast/blog directories
Sermon transcription
Submission to Everyzing.com, speech to text site
Weekly ping using Ping-o-matic

Value added services:

Video (Vodcasts)
Sermon translation
Profcast (Enhanced podcast)
Sermon archiving (up to 6 months)

Our true goal at Easy Preach is to build and maintain the world's largest and most comprehensive directory of religious podcasts. There are other services out there that provide similar services to us, however, none of them can match us in price and options (the average price of other services is $30-$80 a month). With us, all you have to do is record the audio you want and send it to us...that's it!

Taking your example about people and their pledges...with our service, which can include video, people don't have to leave home at all to listen or watch your sermons, thus affording themselves the ability to give the pledge to you that would have otherwise been going into their gas tanks.

I would really love to speak with you regarding this. Please give me a call at: 757-342-6721

Thanks!

Brandon

Out of curiosity I went to the Easy Preach web site and clicked on demo. Did I see it right that you are basically selling a WordPress install with the PodPress plugin?

No. What you see there is just that indeed, but that is intended to show people WHAT the service will do with your sermons. Wordpress/Podpress is the easiest way to demonstrate that for someone who does not know how podcasting works. Our service is powered by a completely different setup and hosting company.

And yes, before you ask, people can do this themselves (as you do). But, time and a learning curve being a factor, you absolutely cannot do this, on servers the quality and speed of ours. You also cannot beat us for price, unless you already know what you are doing and want to run the whole thing yourself. In the end, we are all about the SERVICE, not the technology.

Would you like the name of some more audio editing companies or can I help you with something else?

BW
