Linux Hosting! Help!

Hi All,

For Linux Hosting I used to buy from my country (India), and for small size (like 20/50 MB) it is good enough. But when we want more space (like 1GB and above) it become very expensive. When I check hosting provider from US it seems that it is much cheaper. But now I am more confuse that which provider is reliable and affordable in US. I will be thankful if some body can give me hosting company which is affordable & good enough.

Hi Siam,

A hosting fee of US$5 to US$10 a month should provide several gigs of hard drive space. The few megabytes of space you are getting with your current hoster reflects the price of hard drives a decade ago. Things have changed.

I do not recommend IX Hosting at this time, however. I user IX Hosting. While their hosting plans promise several gigs of hard drive space, in fact, due to rapid increase in number of customers, their shared servers are actually near to capacity at all times. Once or twice a month, when trying to upload a small, say, 30K file, I get an error message about the server having no more room. This is always fixed by their tech support in 15 minutes or so, but is aggravating.

I believe they are preparing a new data center (room full of computers) that will accommodate all their customers' sites and eliminate this problem. So in the future, IX Hosting may again be a good choice for hosting.

In addition, my emails have been bouncing back for the past several weeks because the mail server to which my domains are assigned (#49, in this case) has been blacklisted due to some customer's spamming activity. That will be permanently resolved this weekend when, per my request, they move my domains to another mail server.
