Hello to all, but Dean I think you are the person I need to talk to.
Did you recommend a spamblocker? Somebody did, and I downloaded it. It worked fine. Now, it has stopped. The programs are listed, but they are not functioning today. The icon is gone as well.
And if Dean did not recommend a spamblocker, did someone else. Last night it was working great. Now, I have lost it, and it is not functioning.
Thanks!
Carol

I did not recommend it, but I will vouch for the GMail spam blocker being very good. I use it personally, and the company I work for uses it.
The downside would be switching your e-mail address (which may not be a big downside as you can forward to GMail.

Search for MailwasherClarence,
In the time it took you to write the previous post, you could done the search yourself and provide everyone with the actual URL.
It's http://www.mailwasher.net.

Hi to anyone who knows the answer,
Is this spam blocker, the free version, worth using? I had a terrible time with another one I found. If I wanted to put something on the "admit" list or "white" list or whatever it is called, I needed to put a name which makes sense, of course, but it also asked for an email address.
I would have thought it would want the URL. Comments? Ideas, suggestions, critiques. :D
Thanks.

Hi Carol
I use spamfighter http://www.spamfighter.com/ I use the free version and it works great for me. catches 99% of my spam and block and admitting emails is really easy - just select the email and click 'block' (if it is spam) or 'unblock' if it is not.
It only works with microsoft products like outlook, outlook express and mail but if you use them i would recommend it.

Hi to anyone who knows the answer,
I've used the free version of MailWasher from its very early days when one could add as many email addresses as one liked. Now you have to pay for more than one and as I have, ohh, at least 8 at the last count I stick with the odler version.
With free you don't get white / black list updates but you can set your own rules to apply to any part of an eMail.
What I like about mailwasher is the ability to add rules. The ability to right click and add or remove from your w/b list. Also I love being able to partially read the eMail b4 download and in plain text only so no nasty surprises there.
Finally, I love being able to just tick to delete any unwanted mails before grabbing my washed eMail.
