Happy Sunday to One and All,

This questions is not about DNN. Has anyone on here ever tried Blue Voda? If so, what is your experience with it?

I am looking for different software for our website, but I need to obtain something which remains within my capabilities which are more than they were but not up to anything other that WYSIWYG. And it will probably be that way until I leave this good earth.

I do not have the time or energy, because of health, to learn much html so that I can do what some of you do. It would be great, but......That is the end of that story. I can use the html which others create and use it on a website however.

If you have any ideas on other good WYSIWYG editors, let me know. I also have no money to spend on it....or extremely little. Our website still is not a budget item at the church.

Thanks for your thoughts and ideas.

Carol

Hi Carol,

I'll try BlueVoda on my PC sometime this week.

My initial reaction was, it's too good to be true. There had to be a catch, and usually that would be expensive hosting.

In fact, BlueVoda only works with the company's hosting service, VodaHost (http://vodahost.com), which would require you to move your files from your current hoster. It also means you would be unlikely to ever be able to move your files from VodaHost to another hoster, because of the likelihood of there being proprietary code in your files (after using BlueVoda) that would keep your site from working anywhere else.

Well, that's the bad news. The good news is, the company appears to offer a great hosting plan: for under US$10 per month, one gets 600 gigs of hard drive space, PHP, unlimited number of mySQL databases, unlimited number of websites (per hosting account; first inquire if web stats are available for individual website, or not, however), unlimited number of domains, and more.

Sincerely,

Hi, David,

Thank you for taking a look at Blue Voda. I am not all that concerned about moving web pages because I want to completely redesign them after I have learned to use the software well.

I was also pleased by the amount of space which is available. If the software is proprietary, it doesn't make so much of a difference in what I do as in what some other people may do. I just want something with which I can do a decent job and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. However, I want it to be extensive enough for me to be able to use the new things I learn as I go along.

I am not looking to update the site until next summer. As yet I have no inspiration on how I want to do it. And I do like to have some kind of idea before I begin...a direction to go. It seems that lots of people did what I did at first...just do it without any idea of what they are doing. Now, at least I have some idea thanks to you and those on here as well as those on UMConnect.

However, I did not want to start with something if you didn't think it would serve me relatively well.

I appreciate your time.

Carol
