I've searched the web for a feature-by-feature comparison of Mailman and phpList. At first glance, the two can not be easily compared because Mailman is a "N-way" list and phpList is a "1-way" list. However, since at this point the only way I run my three Mailman lists is by using Mailman's configuration options to force them into a 1-way operation, I see the two as being competitors.

My search of the web was not successful ... I could not find a comparison. It then seemed that my only recourse was to create a comparison chart, support it with a related blog, and solicit input. To that end,

www.MailmanPHPList.info (http://mailmanphplist.info/)

The premise for comparison is that typically folks use a shared hosting facility with Mailman installed as part of the system's mail function, so that users can not modify Mailman's Python code; however, with Mailman they have a rich set of options in the administrative control panels. On the other had, phpList is often installed for each domain by cPanel/Fantastico, but has a more modest control panel - offsetting that is the access to the underlying php code.

I'm trying to sort through all of this, so if you have any input, please go to the blog and post.

Thanks !!
