My name is Maynard Solomonson and I am the web manager for our church here in Blaine, MN. Our website is: www.clcblaine.com (http://www.clcblaine.com) We've got a long ways to go, but we're getting there!

A couple of years ago I suggested that the Minneapolis Synod start a "webmaster forum". Well, it was a day or two after I'd mentioned it to our Bishop's secretary that a reply came from Synod, "You're it!" Well, it was an honor as well as a fair amount of groundwork that had to be done in order to establish ourselves.

We've met several times, with our next meeting coming up now the 16th of May featuring a special guest who will conduct the entire day's activities.

What do you think about the following?

1. An all-day meeting (8:30 - 4:30)
2. Bring laptops for some hands-on training
3. Fee-based seminar ($15? $20? $25?)
4. Lunch is included
5. Parking is free (Minneapolis)
6. Meeting 2 times per year (More? Less?)
7. Maintain same meeting spot versus area churches (now meet at Synod headquarters).

8. Other suggestioins??

I keep the database of webmanagers in ACT! which seems to do a good job of tracking, etc.

I appreciate any input that might be sent my way. Thanks!

Maynard (Solomonson)

PS: This is a great website with a ton of potential...we just have to get the word out to our web managers...which I'm going to do at our next meeting, as well as a few phone calls to people that can advertise it to others...

Hi Maynard and welcome from me in sunny (but chilly) South Wales (UK). As you say this site is a wealth of info and the natives are friendly - at least they have been thus far for me!

What do you think about the following?

Personally I'd be up for starting an all day thing slightly later, but if it works for your part of the world go with it.

The only questions I'd ask is - what are the seminars and would they be worth the fee? Secondly, what hands on training, what level and will you accomodate several levels of expertise?

As to location - again that would depend, but if it meant more folks could attend by varying the location then do so. Perhaps a questionairre at the first meeting asking for opinions on how often, where, when, what, etc would be helpful.

Hope this helps.
