Hello, everyone. This looks like a great webmaster resource. It would also be great to have a section on Internet revenue, to share ideas about how to find sources of money for the church.

Thanks for joining the forum!

It would also be great to have a section on Internet revenue, to share ideas about how to find sources of money for the church.Good idea. In the morning, I'll make it the lead "conversation starter" on the forum.

Hi and welcome.

Trust you can find friendship, fellowship and answers here.

Reading between the lines of your idea, I'm not so sure I'd be keen on trying to generate revenue via the usual methods of advertising, click thru's, etc... in fact I'm certain I wouldn't want to :)

Now if the Church has a means of making money (say they run a business already) then putting that on the web is a different and logical extension.

Let's see what the discussion generates though and maybe it's just my British viewpoint.

welcome,

Our church is doing such a thing. We are adding an embedded bookstore ( I can't remember what company) into our website, members can buy through the site, and like 5% goes to the church

I had to word it such because we are in the process of building 4 sites - one of which will be a fully fledged ecommerce site and I couldn't shoot myself in the foot :)

We already import American christian books into the UK and have exclusive rights to do so with several publishers which makes us a vital link in teh chain. Anyway, I have finally persuaded the Church they need to offer a trade presence on the web and on the back of it also offer an ad-hoc public sales as well.

We have a cafepress store, not so much for generating revenue, but to make it easier for the youth group to publish tshirts, etc. It certainly has the potential to raise money.

That is liable to be something we will do as well with the funds heading towards our GAP year project - which is totally about our youth.

We currently have youth in South Africa "Bringing Music to the Townships" and one in Kenya teaching/caring for children in an orphanage. My eldest will be due to do one a year September and he wants to do something with the homeless but not sure where yet.
