Our web site is - www.holycrosswinterhaven.com (http://www.holycrosswinterhaven.com)

We are a small Central Florida church - about 80 families.

Our web site is new - within the last year.

A survey of our parishioners shows there is an interest in our putting our minister's sermons on the web site - in audio form.

How do I go about doing that?

We can make a cassette tape or a CD of the sermon. What software to I need to convert the tape to audio extensions - .wav or mp3 of whatever?

Look around this forum - this has recently been covered but I can't reacl where right now (probably helpdesk).

Anyway - I would work from the CD recordig (it's less fiddly than trying to import a tape) and then you'll need an app to convert it to MP3 or similar. You may even be able to 'rip' the audio straight off the CD in its current format.

Should you need to convert it then use Audacity - it's free for a start and has versions for MAC and PCs. You will also likely want to compress it, or at the very least chop it up into manageable sized files to download - though broadband negates a lot of the old style fun of compressing but keeping the quality going.

Finally you will need to host it - the only real decision is do you stream it or just offer it for download.

Hope this helps to get you started.

Hi Hal,

Thanks for posting about this subject. As Stu points out, this subject has been covered on this forum in several previous threads, though there's no harm in asking about it. Indeed, I find all forums difficult to use in this regard, that is, quickly finding existing threads relevant to a given subject.

One forum member has suggested I provide a list of major topics for which there have been threads. That's not available yet, but I was able to find a number of threads on this forum about putting audio (and video) on the web after a quick look. Check out the following links, therefore.

A number of threads are located within the Conversation starter entitled, "Is your church podcasting yet?

(in particular, this was the most recent thread on the subject: )

This one was about videos on a church website:
