I'm now into my 10th year of my church's website. It went from one page which was hosted some space which the ISP gave to everyone who had an account to owning a domain. I see so much potential, but it's been hard to get others to share in the vision.
I've learned that communication is very important and that being the webmaster, I'm the one who has to do most of it. I've become a professional at polite nudging (nagging ;)).
Which brings me to something else I've learned (or should I say, still learning) patience. A lot of the congregation just doesn't seem to understand the internet or really want anything to do with it. Then there are those who think they know and tell you how to run it.
Which leads me to this - I've learned that the congregation is not ready for a forum and took it off.
Now that I've done some complaining, here's a positive:
I've learned to be comfortable with the talents that God has given me. There is still so much more to be learned and that I am not going to be able to know it all and I can accept help when needed (okay that's another one I'm still learning).
I'm sure I'll revisit a forum in the future, but not just yet.
