Hello,

My name is Phillip Burrow. I have been the web master for our church's site for about five years. We are located in the Birmingham area.

I often visit this site to get inspiration, and felt that it was about time to join the forum. I look forward to meeting you all, and picking up some new ideas.

Phillip

Hi Phillip,

Thanks for joining the forum!

Looking at your website, I see (from a link at the bottom) that you use Comstock stock photos. Do you mind sharing something about the costs involved in doing this? (Yeah, I could research Comstock's prices myself; I'm being lazy.)

I volunteered to create a website for a pastor in Africa, so I need to purchase some photos of African peoples for use on his site. I have little or no budget to purchase photos, so I'm hoping the costs are minimal.

Sincerely,

David,

If you are looking for a bargain, you better keep looking. Comstock is very proud of their disk and apparently don?t like to sell too many of them. We purchased a disk from Comstock when I first started. The disk is called Lifestyle Tableaus. It includes 104 very professional looking photographs, but they definitely don?t believe in giving anything away. I forget what we paid for it, several years ago, but they are asking $399 for it now.

One can also purchase a single photograph. We purchased several of these as well. I believe we spent around $35.00 apiece. I'm not sure what they are selling for now.

We also use www.Clipart.com (http://www.clipart.com/) to for some of our photographs. They are not as many professional looking pictures, but it is a whole lot cheaper. You only pay a yearly fee, and can use it as often as you like. We may find half, or more of our ?Sermon Series? pictures here.

I have found that Photoshop Elements will work wonders cleaning up many of the dingy photographs.

Hi Phillip,

Yeah, that's too expensive. For far less money, I could buy the pastor a digital camera and send it to him. Though I'm hoping someone will donate a camera.

Philip--

Welcome to the forum. Good to have some more Southern people here (I am from southwest Georgia).

David,

I agree. I have read several of your messages about your new project. It sounds interesting. You were saying that you would like to get a inexpensive low resolution camera for him. Have you tried eBay? I looked this morning and saw several that might interest you.

Jack,

Thank you for the welcome. We southerners will have to stick together.

Hi Phillip,

Quite honestly, I never thought to try eBay. You can tell I don't spend much time there.

But, still, I have to watch the budget, so I'm hoping for a donation.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.
