Has anyone used Web Empowered Church (http://webempoweredchurch.com/) system before?

I haven't used it, but I've read a fair amount about it. It seems to have a lot going for it, but I just haven't had the time nor desire to learn TYPO3 (which it is built on).

From what I hear WEC has set it up so that changing surface features (like design) is easier then with the basic TYPO3 package. I am going on a week long mission trip to mississippi on Saturday but I hope to launch a new WEC site the week after. I will post on my progress.

Brian Slezak (who is involved with WEC) over at The Appian Way (http://appianway.blogspot.com/) posted a couple of days ago about the recent TYPO3 conference (http://appianway.blogspot.com/2006/07/reflections-on-typo3-conference.html).

I've not used WEC per se, but have had the opportunity to use TYPO3, upon which it is based. I found TYPO3 to be very powerful.

However, the pdf-based instruction manuals (yes, manuals, i.e., more than one) for TYPO3 run to 100s and 100s of pages (more than a 1.000 pages combined), so there's a learning curve.

Sincerely,

TYPO3 is a very powerful and very complex package, not for the unlearned, but I belive that was one of the main goals of WEC, to create a CMS that is powerful yet easy to install and maintain.
