Greetings to All,

This is a great forum and website. I'm a part-time, volunteer pastor and planted a church here in Va Beach about a year and a half ago. I designed, wrote, and maintain our website myself, and I would greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions for how to improve it.

I know we need photos, etc. and would love to work with a real professional to engineer a better design; however, we can't afford that right now.

Thanks and blessings to all,
Rob

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for introducing yourself.

Your website is pretty nice, actually. You have used what is called the "clothesline" design pattern (that is not meant disparingly at all). It's called this because the tops of graphics or text (or columns of the same) line up, letting the bottoms end where they will. (Note the resemblance to clothes hanging from a clothesline.) It's a great way to handle the design challenge with which you were faced.

The iconic art that you used throughout the website, aside from undoubtedly being a tradition in your particular faith, I think would appeal to postmoderns. Ancient religious art is attractive to postmoderns.

Of particular note is the fact that the location of the worship services and service times is plainly visible on your website, on all pages. That's commendable. Such vital information (to visitors) is hard to find on too many church websites.

Sincerely,
