Freelance resources

Hey all,

I'm just getting started on web design. In order to get some experience, I'm thinking of offering some cheap web design for churches and non-profit organizations. Unfortunately I don't really know how to get started. I want to be professional in the way I work, but I just don't realy know the industry standard of doing things. Does anyone know of any books or web resources on how to get started doing freelance work?
