We are moving from tables and other technologies to web standards. Anyone else moving in this direction?

Made the switch a while back although there have been occassions where I've had to creat hybrid pages (tables & css) for certain elements (see www.limuk.org for what I mean - most of the page is laid out using css but for the main banner thing at the top I couldn't get a satisfactory result so I had to use a table).
I was lucky as I never really got used to designing with tables before I decided to create using css - I think I might have struggled otherwise and sometimes it is easier to use tables than css.
I think it is important to remember that 95% of users are more concerned with what you present to them rather than how you've done it

I totally agree with your comment "95% of users are more concerned with what you present to them rather than how you've done it". So if we can take the time using web standards to deliver it well, we can also improve user experience, a standards-compliant site that is coded for simplicity solves problems with mobile access, Section 508 accessibility, and past-version browser compatibility, the clean separation of form/function makes it much easier for you to develop and maintain your pages, amongst numerous other advantages...
We have begun the process (http://new.kaleochurch.com/). Many of the links point to our old site at this point but most of the menu works.
