Hi-- I'm from Lodi, California. I am the parish secretary of St. Paul Lutheran Church. http://stpaullodi.org . As of now, we are using a pre-designed site, from thischurch.org. It was the idea of our interim pastor. I just don't like the site! (partly because he made us give up the site I designed from scratch! LOL) It seems like a good idea, but the reality is to me it is ugly no matter what color combination I use, and it looks amateurish. And it costs too much! The good parts: you can do bulk mailings, but it seems there ought to be a better way. Our former site was pretty much just informational.

What programs do you use? (Front Page, Netfusion... etc) What works best, informational or designed for seekers? How do you promote your site? I have lots of questions!

Personally, I am a 50 ish mom of 7. I am not Lutheran, but I work for a Lutheran church. Lots of challenges there! Hard to think of what to put on the site from a Lutheran perspective when I don't think that way. What I might put there (for seekers) isn't Lutheran!

Looking forward to getting to know as many of you as I can and jumping in!

Hi,

I am a 64 ish single person who has no kids...or grandkids either. :) I use the Homestead stuff for our website. I knew zero about websites so I just looked around for something I could use. Many people thing I am nuts to use it, but it works for me. Probably our website looks amateurish too...maybe because I am a rank amateur. However, I am learning.

I think it would be hard to design a website for a church whose perspective is different from your own. That is a tough thing to do. I find our website reflects me...a lot, I am afraid. But I grew up in this church. I think the balance you are looking for is hard to get, but there are some church websites which seem to do a good job. There are others who can judge that much better than I can.

So welcome aboard. I hope you find the help for which you are searching!
This is a good place to come. There are some right bright people here. and they know about computers and design as well.
