View Full Version : CSS adjusting para spacing

I've forgotten how to adjust the whitespace between paras on the CSS style sheet.
For some styles e.g. headings I want extra whitespace above
For certain text styles I like a closer setting. The default is a whole one space between each para. I like to reduce this to approx half a line space between paras.
I used to do this by entering a value of approx -8 pixels. Works. But I can't find my notes on what I did i.e. which parameter. Can someone refresh my memory? Thanks

Is that what you're after?

Thanks, David. Partial answer. I'm getting on just fine search/replacing the text file and putting in the <p></p> tags before inserting into the Dreamweaver page.
I couldn't get the effect by using the margin bottom parameter in the CSS style sheet -- I could try putting the parameter in the text file {margin-bottom -9px} etc but I would rather get the style sheet to work as it's supposed to.
I have done this in the past successfully.
Are we sure it's the margin bottom that will control the para space?
It seems to me that CSS could be a lot easier in this respect. Setting the para space is almost as basic as setting the line height, buit it seems a lot moredifficult to achieve.
Thanks for your help so far.
Any more ideas out there?

Hi Greiggy,
You may have a typo or slightly incorrect formatting in the CSS style sheet, for this paragraph thing. Look it over carefully. (Or post online for us to view.) I've found that the slightest error in formatting causes a style not to work.
