In the back of my mind, I've always thought of putting some fun stuff on the site (and now here's the but), but have struggled with the appropriateness of it. I look at the make-up of my church and wonder. I have a hard enough time convincing them of how a website can benefit the church.

Does anyone have any pros and cons to fun & games? What sorts of games would you put on a church site? How do you make a church site fun?

A lot of what you post on your church webpage will depend upon the "personality" of your church. We're a Purpose-Driven church known as "Exciting Immanuel" and we use a lot of humor in the services, so our members wouldn't be put off with some tasteful humor on the page. For example, right now if you go to our webpage and scroll down on the right side, you find a link to "World-School Photographs", which says they have the largest collection of school pictures...you go there and enter your name, school, year of graduation and think they're going to show your school photo, but you get a picture of a monkey...very funny stuff! In the back of my mind, I've always thought of putting some fun stuff on the site (and now here's the but), but have struggled with the appropriateness of it. Tony Whittaker recommends games on church websites because they make a website sticky. See tip #16 here:

along with the examples he provides.

But I want to say that games ought to be integrated into your site. The problem with links to games on other websites is that they take people away from your site.
