Don't know if anyone else out there is doing this but I came across a site for doing press releases which seems like an awesome way of getting the word out to the media. Plus it is a free service and if you contribute you get RSS'd to Yahoo, Google, MSN, etc., and indefinitely archived in their archives. Seemed like a win-win for getting the word out and getting your link out there as well.

Anyone else done anything with Press Releases? If interested let me know and I'll send you the info.

Hi Derek,

I've done press releases (for Great Church Websites) the hard way: I went to the library and gathered the titles and fax numbers of about 100 Christian publications I thought might be interested in my site. I obtained this information from a standard directory of publications that almost all libraries have in their reference department. Over the course of the past year, then, I have sent press releases of my own composition by internet fax (http://www.greenfax.com works great for me) from my computer to these publications.

I'd be very interested, nevertheless, in getting info about the site you mention in your post.

Sincerely,

David Gillaspey

I would be interested in this information as well. Could you please send it to me? I am always looking for ways to promote the website. I think this is a huge problem. Another problem, depending on the church, is just getting the membership to remember the church has a website with resources which would assist in any number of tasks from creating devotions to providing information for children and many steps in the middle as well. I have a teacher gene in me and can't help myself.

For those of you who enjoy church history, we now have one in place at the website below. I hope you enjoy it!!

Wow,

I just realized that I never responded for the requests for this information. We use a service called PRWeb the Press Release Newswire, www.PRWeb.com (http://www.prweb.com) . You can use it for free but for a relatively low "donation" you can get linked the RSS feeds on the likes of Yahoo, Google, etc.

There is also a "Friend of PR Web" credit that gets placed above all of the same priced Press Releases for that day. The are very helpful and have the toos to make an okay press release great.
